Beyond the basic learning that is given to children, it is necessary to know how to transmit knowledge in the best way so that they retain and apply it. In this article we give you a series of tips to ensure that your students’ learning  is as effective as possible.

8 things you can do to help your students learn more and better

Within the large amount of resources or actions that you as a teacher can carry out to improve the learning of your students, we will show you the best strategies to capture their attention and to strengthen their learning effectively.

Some things you can do for it are:

  1. More effective communication. Pay attention to the signals and listen to their interests. The key in this case is to identify the communication forms of each student and respond to them, creating more effective interactions.

  2. Take advantage of your surroundings. Introduce new concepts taking into account the environment around you. Each moment is an opportunity to teach something related to it. For example, at lunchtime you can talk about colors and shapes of each food, mention some animals on a walk to the park, etc.

  3. Applaud their efforts. Recognize the achievements of your students, but also the attempts. The child must know that their efforts are worth something, regardless of whether or not they get what they were supposed to do. Therefore, it is good to congratulate them saying that they’ve done well, encouraging them to keep trying.

  4. Make connections. Relate what you are going to teach your students with things that they like; create fun and interesting examples so that they feel identified and learn much better.

  5. More entertaining homework. Try to get away from conventional homework: you can assign your students to do crafts, undertake a small project with their parents,  a creative group work, to see their favorite series or anything that’s different as well as instructive.

  6. Complete your remarks. If the child makes any observations, it is good to help expand this knowledge with additional remarks. Complete the information no matter how small it may be.

  7. Dedication. The teacher must have time to attend each student individually and meet their training needs; that’s why it’s important not to have too many students in class, otherwise there is no time for all.

  8. Gamification. It is one of the best ways to help students learn, as they will have fun and pay more attention to the study. In fact, it is already a learning methodology that is increasingly being incorporated into adult education. You can set challenges, give awards for certain achievements or whatever you think might work for your students to have fun.

The key for effective learning is that the child becomes confident of their own abilities, that their effort is valued and that they have fun in a certain way. So don’t stop looking for the best ways to get them to learn independently of their abilities and knowledge.
