Escola Pia de Catalunya

Escola Pia de Catalunya are an organization with a long career in education and society in Catalonia. Our first school in Catalonia was founded in 1683. Since then they have expanded our educational range in order to serve the population. In these years they have been an institution that has made significant innovations in teaching. They are a transversal institution, since they have centres in affluent environments, but also have schools in low income environments where our schools strive to develop both eductacionally and socially. Currently they have 20 schools distributed throughout the territory.

Their presence is mostly medium and large cities of Catalonia: Barcelona (6 centres) and medium-sized cities of its industrial belt such as Sabadell, Terrassa, Mataró, Granollers  Calella,  and Vilanova. They also have a presence in smaller towns, some of them in rural areas like Sitges, Salt, Caldes de Montbui, Igualada, Balaguer, Tarrega, Moià and Olot. We have a workforce of 2,500 employees, serving 20,000 students between the ages of 0 and 18 years and we provide compulsory and post-compulsory education: Secondary and Vocational Training.

Inside their institutional framework, they implement international cooperative actions through Fundació Educació Solidària (a foundation located in Senegal, California and Mexico) and also actions towards social inclusion through Fundació Servei Solidari, a foundation located in the Raval district of Barcelona.

They consider, as another important pillar, the promotion of education outside of the school with Colònies Jordi Turull, where the volunteers spend time in associations and summer camps, and instructors are trained to develop their tasks in that same space.
